Hello, my name is Austin Cheney.
I am a graphic artist and web designer who enjoys making art for presentation. I recently graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelors of Science in Liberal Studies. Finally I am finished with school, except for the possibility of a master's degree, and so now I can finally have the freedom venture out into the world where I can explore new exotic career oppurtunities.
I know some of you are thinking in the back of your large brilliant heads, "What the hell is a Liberal Studies degree?" An education in Liberal Studies allows for a lesser limited variety of classes. In my case I emphasized in art, but also completed nearly enough history and communication classes to nearly have three undergraduate degrees. This is extremely important for my future career path. The art classes were necessary to help me expand my interest in design to a more structured foundation. The history classes were important because history is the essence of human wisdom since nobody can claim to be wise if they are ignorant of their past. The communications classes were perhaps the most important as they provided a foundation on which to communicate. In other words the communications classes helped provide a platform for more effective active listening skills that I had learned from prior management experience. The communications classes also helped me to learn the impact of words. I have learned that it is absolutely vital to make every spoken word a powerful elaborative impact if you wish people to share your thoughts and hope to persuade an audience. Honestly, most of us are attention deficit listeners, and so we must work extra hard to make our words not only heard but worthy of remembering. In the conduction of business nothing is more important, or harmful, than the accurate conduction of creative thoughts upon an unforgiving audience.
I have a wonderfully supportive wife that is working on finishing up her undergraduate education. Together we are raising a 3 year old girl named Tori and a baby boy named Gabriel. I am also in the US Army and have served a year in Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi/Enduring Freedom. Read more about this on my Questions page.
